Act in a performance
Last week, I was the model in the Fashion show. I couldn't remember why I was picked to be a model. Mrs. Hadly just called my name when she announced member of the models in 10-F. I was not mad with this, because model could do less work than others.
Before the Fashion show, I felt a bit nervous, I didn't why. I had joinned this kind of shows for many times. Even in front of all the students in NFLS. My teammates gave me our group’s clothes, they were not too bad I thought. Then I wore those clothes quickly. And I also wore uniforms so that other people wouldn’t see our products.
The Show started at 6.30 p.m. and the hosts were standing on the stage already. I felt more nervous. But I still tried to be calm down. Suddenly, Connie came to me and said she would send a flower to me.
“Next, Let’s welcome, Frank.wu from 10-F”, suddenly, all the students were yelling. Actually I enjoyed this kind of yelling for me a lot. Then I came to the stage, the yelling was stronger and stonger. All the students told me to dance. But the music was terrible, I couldn’t dance with that song at all. So I just walked down the stage….
After Fashion Show, somebody told I shouldn’t walk away, I should do some dancing whatever the music was good or bad. I think he is right now…but it’s too late.

A few weeks ago, a famous director came to our school and gave us a speech about what is movie and how to make a good movie. A movie was not easy to make, there are many processes.
The first step is the company must has a complete plan so that the movie can be made organized and the movie can be completed on time.
Second step is the movie should be cut into small pieces. There is no any good movie can be made completely in one night or one week. If so, this movie won’t be good, because all the works are rushed to complete. There is no quality. The movie should retries enough times.
Second step is the company need to find the place for the movie. For example, the next part is fighting part. Then, the company need to find where is the best place as this part’s background. In a movie there are lots of backgrounds, so, the company need to find enough backgrounds for director to choose.
In a conclusion, The director told us many details and directions about how to make a good movie. She was also very glad that there were many students are interested in Movies. She said she was always glad to help us to solve the problems on making a movie, If she has other chances she will come again and tell us more details about movie.

Yesterday, I went to Vitas’s concert with Jordan. The concert was hold at Olympic sport centre. Actually, there were not too much people, maybe several thousand people. When Jay came to Nanjing, there were 30000 fans came. I thought the reason was Vitas was not very famous in China yet.
The show started at 7.30 p.m and we arrived at 5.30 p.m, so we went to have dinner first. At 7.30 p.m we came into the concert, Vitas had come out already, his voice was really high, you will feel much better if you go to the concert instead of watching the concert online.
While we were enjoying Vitas’s voice. I also focus on his action, he always had some different actions. For example, when Vitas sang the song with the highest sound, he usually took away his microphone from his mouth. It seemed like that he was telling you, that was my ture voice. Everytime he took away the microphone he would have a kind of confident smile. It was really attractive.
In the end, Vitas sang the highest song as the final song, I thought I was attracted by him, his voice was really different but beautiful. When we on our way home, there were not too much people on the street. I sang the Vitas’s songs with Jordan, I thought he was also attracted by Vitas. If i have another chance to go to Vitas’s concert, I won’t miss it…

Volunteer work
Yesterday, I went to the Public Book Shop to do the volunteer work with Connie and Mi . The shop was located at Xinjiekou and Mi’s father is the boss of that shop, so, we got this volunteer work with MI’ s helping.
We met each other at 2 p.m and we went into the office together. The officer took us to the 4th floor, and she showed us the the first volunteer work. The work was that we told the customers who had lottery chance how to get their prize. At the same time, MI said that because you(That’s me - -) were handsome you should do this part, children would like you very much. Suddenly, I had nothing to say to him. Then, the officer asked Connie and MI to do another two works. I thought their work were easier than me, because they only needed to put the books in correct orders, however, I needed to explain to all the customers who came to the lottery activity. I almost explaned the rules of this activity more than 50 times. I decided to say the rules again so that all the teachers can know the rules. Each customer who buys book more than 48RMB will have a chance to join the lottery activity, everyone will get a prize whatever what prize do you picked because the lowest prize is 4th prize. There was another two situations which would make me feel embarrassed were when some people got 4th prize, they may say it was impossible to pick the 1st prize and then they complained a lot to me. I felt confused when they talked about this, because the rules of this game was not made by me, why did they just keep complaining to me.. I had no idea at all. The second situation was when people who pick the 4th prize they would beg me to give them a 2nd or 3rd even 1st prize. I thought it was ridiculous. If I give you 2nd or 3rd even 1st prize when you picked the 4th , why don't you just buy books until you spent 48RMB then you choose anyone prize you want. The lottery activity was not necessary at all. Even though I was a bit mad with these people, I also realized that it was not easy to do a good job. You need time to add your experience, then, you can do better.
Connie and Michael were still cleaning the books, they didn't need to do too much talk.
Time went very fast, it was 6 p.m now, we only had half an hour to have our dinner, so, we just choose the KFC(That’s why KFC called fastfood). After dinner, we finished our another 2hours then we left.
Today, I realized students are much more comfortable than those people who stand in the shop and try their best to sell their products. I think we really should work hard even for the comfortable envionment.

Art exhibition

Today, I went to a art exhibition with Jordan and Allen. The exhibition was not far away from our school. We spent 10 min to arrive there. Then we came into the exhibition. We realized that the exhibition was about “COW”. Because this year is cows’ year in China. All the artists drawed some pictures about cows and they send the pictures to there so that they could share their happyness with people by pictures.
The ticket was free so we came into the building without paying money. Allen said the building made he felt a bit fear. Beacues the building was very old, almost all the doors had lost their paint. There were few people in the building we didn't find the people until we came to the 3rd floor. At the same time, many cows’ pictures came into our eyesight. They were very vivid. Next, I went to enjoy the picture by myself. I found one that was my favourite. But, unfortunately, I didn't find the name of this picture. It was the only one picture that drew a calf. The calf was turning its head, it looked like that he was called by someone. I was attracted by its ears and eyes. I found that if you looked its ears carefully it ears were different with others cows.
About a half of hour later, we left the exhibition. The pictures were not bad and we didn't afraid of this building any more.

Today, I went to a Japanese restaurant with Jordan and Allen(we went to exhibition at afternoon and we had dinner together). You have two choses in this restaurant. One of them is you pay 100RMB and then you can chose any food you want and there is no limit. Another chose is you pick some food and you pay for it, usually it will spend you about 50 RMB.
We choosed second one because we didn't have enough cash. What a pity! We waited for a long time. Then, our food came, we enjoyed the food a lot. They were delicious. The waiter said we also got a chance to get a bottle of drink freely. So I drinked all of them because I was thirsty. Then, something happened, a waiter came to my desk and asked if I want another bottle of drink.Obviously, I said yes. So he gave me another bottle of drink. when I decided to drink it, the last waiter said I couldn't drink it because each people could only have one . I was very embarrassing and angry.because i didn't know I need to pay for it, no one told me. Just now somebody said to me that I could have a chance to get a bottle of drink. But I didn't show my angry emotion. I just put down the drink and kept eatting my food .
Then we finished our food faster and left that was not the restaurant’s problem I thought, that was the waiter’s problem. Anyway, this was a good experience that can help me understand the culture difference between two countries.

Actually, we always do some exercises when the time that we stay in school. For example, we usually play basketball, dancing and so on. But when we have holidays, we often choose to lie on our lovely bed for the whole day even it is a beautiful day. But, because of this homework, we have to go outside and breathe the fresh air. I think Mrs. Mandy had known that we may spend all the time to sleep. So, we have to do Physical activity…….
Well, the time is not very long. We only need to do 10 hours activity and I have done it. The first date was January 25th, Sunday.
It took me 1 hour to find my basketball, whatever, I found it. I went to the basketball field and no one was playing ball there. Because I live far away with my classmates so I just could play basketball by myself. I decided to play 2 hours and I used these two hours to practice my basketball skills. By the way, I called my mother to come to see me any time she wanted. Actually, I haven’t played basketball for many months. ONLY(the student from Grade 11) would call me to dance everyday after school. Step by step, I didn’t well at basketball any more..... When I decided to practice basketball, I found that it was too late. So I gave up. Now I seldom play basketball. The second date was January 27th, Tuesday. This time, there were some teenagers playing basketball. So I joined them, then, we divided us to 2 groups and each team had 3 people. So the match started. I found the field was very slippery. You will slip if you don’t be careful. We played ball until I couldn’t see the ball clearly (about 6 o’clock p.m.). So I said time was late and left. When I picked up my things they told me they would play here tomorrow too, they asked me if I wanted to come tomorrow, I agreed. Next day, I got up at 11 o’clock. After lunch I went to the field at 2 o’clock. They had arrived there, this time we changed group members. I got 2 stronger teammates, although they were stronger than me but my skill was better than them. So I always controlled the ball and found a chance to pass my ball to my teammate who was closer to the basket, then he could throw the ball into the basket easily.
Time went very fast; I couldn’t see the ball again. Because of the sun went away……then I said good bye to my teammates and another team. Because this was my last time to play basketball. From January 25th to January 29th I had played basketball for 10 hours. I found that my skill was not too bad; I would try to play basketball if I really felt tired in practicing dancing. That was my 10 hours Physical activity. I got more friends from that, I thought it was good.

When I still studied in ESL class, I had joined the Dancing club. At that time I was only a student who didn’t know what was dancing at all. I just remembered that every Saturday I would to go school to learn Breaking dance with ONLY(the student from Grade 11), although he also was not very good at it at that time, but better than me.
This year is my second year in dancing club and I really enjoy it a lot. But there are something changes in this year. Some members left the GCA or Dancing club. ONLY tells me that I also need to teach students this year.
In this New Year’s holiday, we had 4 time activities. Each time we practiced dancing together we really got a lot fun and learned a lot. On January 2nd that was the first day we hold activity in holiday. Actually, most of us had lay on our own lovely bed for many days, I guessed nobody want to move any step. We reviewed some simple TOP ROCK and FOOT WORK. They are basic steps in breaking dance, but they are not easy to do, you must match your steps with music and you should spend some time to listen the breaking music. For the first day, we spent more time to talk with each other than practice. Two hours later, we finished our first activity day.
January 6th was the second activity day; we would pay attention on some difficult Freeze poses and Combos. ONLY and me found that our breaking members didn’t enough power to hold their body. So we would make a plan to help them to improve their power. Basically, we would do 50 push-ups and running. Although it was difficult to finish, but we still felt happy. At the end, ONLY said we would have a dancing battle next time. Our dancing club would battle with other schools’ dancing teams. We all felt exciting; it was a good chance to show GCA’s dancing skill.
On the battle day, ONLY called me to help him prepared the music; we came to the battle place early. After we finished prepare everything the battle started, there were four teams total.
Each team had 5—7 people and they were not only breaking dancers some of them were poppers and hip-hop dancers. In our breaking battle, each of us had a piece of paper. And on the paper there was a number, a people would pick 2 numbers. So the two breaking dancers who had these two numbers would battle with each other. The match was great and successfully, NLFS-GCA won the Breaking and Jazz part but we didn’t win the Popping part. Whatever we really enjoyed it and we got more friends. From this battle we realized that we need to practice our dance harder to make the Dancing club stronger.

Volunteer work

This is a chance for Only(the student from Grade 11) and me to show our dancing skill to a big company in Nanjing called WUXIN. This is a company that sells the electronic products. 21st January was their own festival. Because their company has came into existence for 10 years. So their manager found us to join their show. (Because all the professional dancers always need money to pay for their dancing, but we were volunteers, we were free.)
The volunteer work spent us 2 days to finish. On the first day, we need to taught three young workers dancing, because two people (Only and me) were not enough for a great show. The three guys were all 20+ years old, so it was not to difficult to talk with them. One of these three guys even learned a bit dancing before, but he was not very good at it. So we decided to teach them some simple pose, such as Freeze and Nike. Freeze means use your hands and head to hold your all body. Nike means use your one hand to up your whole body and at the same time you put your legs like a Nike symbol. Let’s me show you some pictures. At the end, we finished our design part and we only need to practice it tomorrow.

The second day, we would stand on the stage to show our result. Our dancing show had 5minutes long. Actually, the three young workers felt a bit nervous. Because the stage would be on the street .But Only and me didn't feel nervous. Maybe we have used to perform in front of a lot audience. Whatever, we must to stand on the stage, nervous was useless. After some short encourage words we went to the stage. Our plan was we danced together at first. This part was called TOPROCK and UPROCK which represent some simple body language and the dancing show would start now. Then Only and me would solo by ourselves, after our solo the three guys would show their part. I thought they must complain these three minutes were very long. Because of the nervous, they had some mistakes but it didn’t matter. We finished our program on time; there were other great shows next.
After the show we also helped the workers to clean the stage, but I didn’t understand that the two workers didn’t agree us to take photo with them, I had no idea. So we just took photo with one of them.Even the volunteer work only had 5 hours but I got many things in my mind. I understood it is not an easy work to teach somebody, you need a lot patient. From this volunteer work I realized that teacher is a difficult work. Much harder than us, teachers must keep teaching for many years, we should respect our teachers.

Go to foreign restaurant

On December 24th, the grade 12 students took us to have a dinner at foreign restaurant called MY PLACE. The leader of those grade 12 students Alice said that is an Italy restaurant. Many teachers in GCA went to there for dinner.
When we arrived, the restaurant made me feel amazing, because the restaurant was located in a small alley at the Lion Bridge and if somebody who haven’t been to there, it’s very difficult to them to find there. Next, we came into a small room. The waiter told us we couldn’t order the food, all the customers had same food, because they didn’t have enough time to do all kinds of food.
The first food was bread. they are very soft and delicious. Actually that was my first time to eat butter, it tasted not bad. Then, the waiter gave us some salad and Italy noodles, the noodles were put in a big dish. And we had to divide them by ourselves. Because I was very hungry so I finished it very fast…..Later the staple food came, they were a middle size of steak, and the steak was delicious.
At last the waiter gave us some sweet cake, when we were eating the cake, the boss of MY PLACE came into our room, he greeting with us. But I still ate my cake, I didn’t look at him and say hello to him. I thought that might make him a bit angry. After that I knew I was wrong and I said sorry to him when we left.
That was my first time to go to such a interesting restaurant and I also realized the important manners if we go to foreign country in the future.
